What started as a relatively level playing field in Web 1.0, when the Founder of Facticity.AI interacted with some of the earliest LISTSERVs and owned an mIRC Galaxynet channel that sometimes had hundreds of people is no longer within any individual or community’s control and is feeding the poly-crisis of those who will be left behind on earth, perhaps not unlike the people stuck as No-Faces in the world of "Ready Player One". Current enforcement of copyright sunders the previously high facticity ratings of human creativity (high facticity and low facticity is a distinction between the sudden and shocking and the slow and non-apparent respectively by @jonas kaiser) and low facticity ratings of mimicry by GenAI. Low facticity's gradual and non-apparent crises like climate change can be easily eclipsed by sudden and shockingly high-facticity ones like incumbent governments losing. This is just as GenAI threatens to render human individuality slowly into commoditizable data products and the inequality of facticity in this shift could vary greatly across the ideological spectrum. The attention economy might have already been growing to meet the needs of the attention economy before GenAI as read about in some of the secret strategies people use to get to the top of Product Hunt but creativity was still uniquely sourced from humans.
Accepting this thrownness (“Geworfenheit”) of contemporary Facticity, what is the human agency to transcend their egos (“La Transcendance de l'Ego”) and abilities in this time and place as ever more replaceable ordinary human beings? What if GenAI could be harnessed to augment human capacity to seek and find the truth rather than trying to compete with the ever more scarce resources of this planet and insatiable demands of its intelligences for more attention? What if everyone could be empowered to analyze, factcheck, and counter misinformation and disinformation almost in real-time as it was being produced and consumed? On this journey to actualize himself, the founder of Facticity.AI worked for some of the most accomplished and iconic startup founders but was petrified and stupefied by the factual, even illogical errors that they casually made on podcasts in the year 2024 which was also the year that it became possible to factcheck any English transcribed video on YouTube by inputting the link into www.Facticity.AI. Suppose one suspects there is any authority figure or celebrity they put on a pedestal who seems to be going beyond their “believability weighting” on a subject matter. Both the Billionaires on the Left who claim that the Lucky Sperm Club and the Right who claim that Pure Skill (of determinate optimism) is all that matters, are removing either unchoosable circumstances or free will from the equation.
Both are wrong as this is a false dichotomy between Facticity and Transcendence. No-Face appears to be transformed into a reliable agent relating reasonably to humans when scaffolded within Zeniba’s classical structures and similarly, LLMS can be constrained.
